Who is Ask Bucky?
Keith Byrd (aka. AskBucky) was one of the first 100 employees at Cisco Systems where he led a product team reporting directly to John Chambers, Cisco's current CEO. From the late 80's through the early 2000's Keith traveled worldwide speaking at seminars and events educating corporations how to securely connect to the Internet. He was Vice President of Marketing for successful high-tech start-ups for seven years before retiring from Silicon Valley and moving his family to the California Central Coast in 2002.

It was his move to the Central Coast that led Keith to the real estate industry. Keith was surprised to see how little the Internet helped him in his house hunting and decided to get his license to learn the industry first-hand. Keith quickly developed his Internet strategy and implemented one of the first IDX sites in his area. Keith has also served as Board of Director for his local Realtor Association and also helped evaluate and implement a replacement MLS system for 4000+ members. Keith also started one of the first real estate Blogs in 2003.

Keith's Internet strategy has proven to be very successful. Today, Keith refers out all the leads he receives through his web sites to a team of Realtors around his area. This allows Keith the time to travel to give his Internet seminars to other Realtors (outside his area!).

In December 2007, one of the vendors Keith uses for his IDX solution issued a press release naming Keith as their top Realtor website in the Nation. Read the press release here

Here's a good example of the need to be e-Competitive. An agent is called by a tele-salesperson selling Internet leads. The sales pitch sounds good on the phone and the agent signs a year contract for $3,000. The agent soon finds that the leads are poor. Did the agent ask the right questions before committing $3,000? Or, maybe the agent didn't know the right questions to ask?!

This seminar is also useful for web developers so they can understand how they can best help their agent/broker clients execute a successful Internet strategy. One mistake agents make is pay a lot of money for a web site but find out the web site developer doesn't understand the real estate market, resulting in a web site that looks good but does not generate leads.

Keith presents an educational seminar on the topics listed at the top of this page. While the seminar information may be too detailed for agents and brokers that are novices with the Internet to fully understand, it does provide an eye-opening educational experience for all levels of attendees.
